I'ON, MOUNT PLEASANT

Perseverance Park in I'On, Mount Pleasant, SCAs one of the most well-known neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant, I'On represents both the progression of the town as well as the charm and beauty that keeps folks moving to the area. I'On was named for a historic East Cooper figure, Jacob Bond I'On, who was the first mayor of Sullivan's Island. Today, the community is known for its feeling of hospitality amongst the neighbors, natural beauty and convenience to the rest of the East Cooper area.

The people who live in this unique community come together in a variety of ways. Their children enjoy sports together; the community garden provides fresh vegetables in the warmer months and neighbors stroll the streets and have “supper clubs.” But you needn't be an actual resident of I'On to enjoy the ambiance it has to offer. The “downtown” area of I'On is brimming with possibilities for visitors and friendly faces to greet you.

Many local restaurants reside in the I'On community including favorites such as the Square Onion, O'Brion's Pub & Grill plus Grind and Squeeze, a coffee and juice bar. Customized services and interesting shops abound, most with plenty of Lowcountry flavor. Whether you are looking for an interior designer or shopping for estate jewelry, you can find it on the “main strip” in I'On. Even East Cooper Montessori, an award-winning charter Montessori school, is located within the community. And the I'On Club is a great place to enjoy tennis, a relaxing swim or fitness classes.
